Forest School

An inspirational process that offers children, young people and adults regular opportunities to achieve, develop confidence and self-esteem through hands-on learning experiences in our woodland environment

Forest School at All Saints is run on a rolling programme throughout the academic year. Each pupil throughout all the Key Stages at All Saints C of E Primary receives a minimum of 16 sessions over the course of the academic year. Each year group receives their Forest School sessions at different times of the year, so that all children, as they progress through the school, have regular access to Forest School, in our woodland setting.

Mrs Casey is our Forest School Specialist / Lead. This year, when each session is in place the class teachers are taking the lead and are being supported by the Teaching Assistant from their class then the lesson is taking place.  Forest School takes places in our very own woodland area, which is located directly behind our school, adjacent to our school field.

Forest School is a long-term process of frequent and regular sessions in a woodland or natural environment, rather than a one-off visit. Planning, adaptation, observations and reviewing are integral elements of Forest School. Forest School takes place in a woodland or natural wooded environment to support the development of a relationship between the learner and the natural world. Forest School aims to promote the holistic development of all those involved, fostering resilient, confident, independent and creative learners. Forest School offers learners the opportunity to take supported risks appropriate to the environment and to themselves. Forest School is run by a qualified Forest School practitioner who continuously maintains and develops their professional practice. Forest School uses a range of learner-centred processes to create a community for development and learning.
