PE
A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect.
At All Saints we recognise the vital role movement plays in a child’s development. Being physically literate—confident and capable in how we move—is an essential life skill for everyone. We are passionate about providing our pupils with a wide range of opportunities to explore physical activity and sport, helping them to develop not only their skills but also a lifelong love of being active.
We also value the positive impact of competitive sport, and aim to offer enriching experiences that build resilience, teamwork, and a sense of achievement.
We are thrilled to announce that All Saints were awarded the GOLD School Games Mark for 2024-25
Curriculum PE
At our school, every child in KS1 and KS2 enjoys two high-quality engaging PE lessons each week using the scheme peplanning.org.uk it has been designed to develop a broad range of physical skills and promote a love of movement and sport. In the early years, children focus on mastering fundamental movement skills such as balance, coordination, and agility as well as social skills of working together and ball skills of throwing and catching. As they progress through school, these core skills are built upon and applied in a variety of sports and physical activities, both indoors and outdoors.
We are proud to offer an all-weather pitch along with ample playground space and a spacious field which allows our pupils to stay active outside throughout most of the year. In addition to regular PE lessons, children take part in regular enrichment sessions to promote physical activity and wellbeing.
Swimming
All children in KS2 take part in swimming lessons across the year. Each class has a block of 6 weeks of lessons at the local swimming pool, children are able to walk their so it keeps the cost down too!
Extra Curricular Opportunities
We offer a wide range of after-school sports clubs led by staff members and qualified external coaches. These clubs provide children with the chance to enjoy physical activity in a fun, non-competitive environment. Current offerings include Running including dodgeball and athletics, Football, Laser Tag and Trampolining amongst others.
Active Lunchtimes
At All Saints we strive to encourage all children to have the opportunity to be active at lunchtimes, this is done through zoned areas of activities for KS1/2 supported by staff and our own Sports Ambassadors and Playground Leaders. An external coach currently offers one lunchtime club a week too. The Playground Leaders also support in the Early Years setting daily.
